Job 1: Part-Time Event Manager
Interested in working in a friendly, scenic place where people gather to celebrate and retreat? ZigBone Farm Retreat, located in Sabillasville, MD in the Catoctin Mountains, close to Frederick, MD and Gettysburg, PA, is seeking an organized, mature, problem-solving, guest-friendly manager to ensure the smooth operation of weddings and large events held at our facilities. ZigBone rents its retreat complex of three naturally built buildings for weddings, business and nonprofit meetings, and other gatherings. Annually, our facilities are rented to about 30 wedding parties (most are weekend-long weddings held Friday to Sunday) and 2-3 large non-wedding events (large is defined as 40 or more guests).
The Event Manager is not a wedding or event planner, rather she/he/they will work for Zigbone Farm Retreat and be tasked with ensuring weddings and large events run smoothly, vendor and renting party’s questions are answered, and that we are adhering to our part of the rental contract. Ultimately, the ZigBone Event Manager ensures couples and event holders have peace of mind before and during their event.
Event Manager Duties:
This is a contract position. We offer $600/event with a guaranteed minimum of 30 events/year.

Event Manager Duties:
- Answers vendor and renting party’s questions leading up to the event
- Keeps our list of recommended vendors updated and provides it to event planners and renting parties
- Shows vendors the facilities and where and how to set up
- When asked, conducts tours for event planners and coordinators
- For weddings, is present at the venue prior to the ceremony through dinner; for non-wedding large events, present until our part of the contract is fulfilled
- Oversees and helps ZigBone event staff, primarily for parking, table/chair moving, cleaning, and lighting the pizza oven
- Checks in with ZigBone Facilities Manager to ensure venue is clean and staff are on hand; when possible, lends a hand to ensure all is prepared for the incoming group
- Works to solve any problems that arise during the event
- Two years’ minimum customer service experience; event coordination experience a big plus
- Demonstrated ability to work with guests, both friendly and demanding
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team to ensure events run smoothly
- Demonstrated organizational skills to track our many events and their associated vendors
- Demonstrated ability to work with Google Docs, Word, and other basic software platforms
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems as they arise
- Ability to work mostly on weekends and be on call during mid-weeks
- Social media experience a plus
This is a contract position. We offer $600/event with a guaranteed minimum of 30 events/year.
