G
reen leafy vegetables are the gift that keeps on giving: collard greens, swiss chard, lacinato kale, tatzoi and curly kale. Tomatoes are our favorite and most contested crop. The season starts with heated discussions about the charms and benefits of each variety. Once the decisions are made, the seeds are carefully planted and nurtured in the basement. When the weather warms, the seedlings make the trek to the farm where we introduce them into the carefully prepared organic soil. We have sweated many a bucket in the hoop house, but nothing beats walking up the hill and rooting around to pick your dinner.
